No Reason

Last night the wonderful man I am blessed to have in my life surprised me with flowers, a heartfelt card and coconut milk mint chocolate chip ice cream. Why? He had no reason, which was the BEST reason and the KIND action meant even more! This of course got me thinking about gift giving and making others happy with small gestures from the heart.

I love giving gifts more than I enjoy receiving gifts but both feel so wonderfully amazing! I have been this way for as long as I can remember. I started Sunbow two years ago for many reasons, and one of those reasons was to share my ideas through apparel and designs that people could buy to gift to others. Gifts that spread kindness and positivity and make both the gift giver and the recipient feel extra special. There are so many “reasons” people give gifts to one another; birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, babies, weddings and the list goes on and on. Giving a gift for NO REASON IS THE BEST REASON in my eyes! It is such a surprise, a feeling of joy, truly makes someone feel extra special to be thought of for “no reason” other than just PURE LOVE!

Just last week, I mailed six gifts to friends for no reason except for the simple fact that I wanted to remind them that they are loved and thought about. I know many people have tight finances, especially right now, however gifts don’t have to be big, expensive or extravagant to be special. There are some gifts that can be handmade and cost nothing, even a hand written card is lovely to receive (which is probably why I enjoy making greeting cards as well)! I love cards as much as gifts and believe a hand written card with an extra personal touch, is what I call “a lost art”. I try to write out cards several times a year for many family and friends. I believe the love and thoughtfulness through “no reason” gifts and cards is worth the a few bucks, a stamp or just a drive down the street, just like the surprise gesture I received last night; it made my day!

There are so many amazing small businesses (and large businesses for that matter) in this country that have such fabulous, unique gifts or even the grocery store or better yet a local florist that carries a small arrangement of flowers. Cards are available almost anywhere! Handmade cards are AWESOME too! I have never received a handmade card that did not warm my heart, make me smile or make me laugh, especially from a child; those are some of the best ones!

I cannot emphasize this thought enough, especially while living in a world that needs so much more love and kindness. Whether using a scrap piece of paper, a local store or a website of choice; there are always affordable tools available.
